Human Guinea Pig

Yesterday I was invited to an hyperbaric test center. As a human guinea pig the docs tested if and how breathing pure oxygen under physical work affects the bloodstream in the brain during a dive. The result of this test will be important for pure oxygen rebreather divers.

Hi Andy, I just bumbled into your blog through Martin's.

Breathing O2 enriched air, or pure?? under pressure, while exercising?

Well I guess that is going to do some strange things on your body.

From those pure O2 static attempts I understood that breathing pure O2 for more than say an our would damage the lungs, lungburns, maybe invoking infections?

How were the tests done, did they show any results? Are you in touch with the testers and will you have some results later?

Good fun with your freediving!, hopefully we'll meet later, maybe at Martins' Hemmoor CNF comp? Or is the water too cold for the frog?

Ciao, Kars
